The Invention of Hot Grass & Hot Vines

Necessity is the Mother of Invention: We first conceived the idea for Hot Grass and Hot Vines back in 1996 when building an animal exhibit that centered around a big, beautiful tree. After working tirelessly throughout design and construction to preserve this spectacular tree, we were dismayed at the end to see the keepers encircling it in industrial electric fencing: Their plan was to protect the tree from being destroyed by the animal on exhibit, but the result was unsightly! We were challenged then to invent an electric barrier that wouldn't detract from the naturalistic look of the exhibit space. Thus, over 20 years ago, Hot Grass and Hot Vines were born!

Now, our electrified grass and vines are used in zoos and nature centers worldwide! Hot Grass can be installed around landscaping, along a moat or back edge of an exhibit, or even on top of a wall. Use Hot Vines on trees, poles, columns, walls or rockwork.
